The Daily Feather — The Twilight Zone
“You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead—your next stop, the Twilight Zone!”
Rod Serling (season two, main opening)
From 1959 to 1964, The Twilight Zone, an American anthology television series created and presented by Rod Serling, captivated its audiences. This was no drama that built from the beginning of the season to a cliffhanger. Rather, each episode was a stand-alone in which characters found themselves dealing with disturbing experiences as they entered the “Twilight Zone." More often than not, the surprise endings featured a moral. Although predominantly science-fiction in nature, paranormal and Kafkaesque events made the show a shivery mixture of fantasy and horror.
“Imagine if you will a Nonfarm Payroll (Good) Friday where U.S. employment registers a downside surprise, burying consensus estimates, registering a triple-digit decline. Recession trades would moonshot whilst economic forecasts were slashed.” To make things more surreal, save those nimble traders on the CBOE, which is open until 11 am ET, closed markets would make it feel even more like an episode of the Twilight Zone.
