Double the fried chicken! Double the cheese! Double the bacon! Double the chaos! If you too have 83 minutes for a run or 136 for a walk to burn, burn, burn, you too can indulge in the 950-calorie Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Original Double Down. Even without the bun, the Double Down packs in 97% of daily fat (63g), 70% of daily cholesterol (210mg), 99% of daily sodium (2380mg) and 134% of daily protein (67g). Due to the demands of its cult followers, KFC brought back the menu for a limited four-week run starting March 6 (any longer and there would be a run on paddles!). On Sunday, March 5, KFC hosted a Double Down Drop, allowing (hopefully healthy select fans early access for a sneak taste one day before the rest of the country. Signups via www.kfcdoubledowndrop.com opened on March 2. Double Down enthusiasts had to act fast. In a nod to when this artery-clogging special was last offered at KFC, the first-come, first-served basis queue filled after the first 2,014 consumers preordered.
