One is the loneliest number, while seven has plenty of company. Where to begin? Without a foray into the Good Book, there are seven days of the week, seven continents, seven seas, seven notes on a musical scale, seven colors on the ROYGBIV spectrum, Shakespeare’s seven ages of man, Snow White’s seven dwarves, and of course, Seven Swans a Singing. As for the Bible, God gave himself a day of rest on the seventh day (We publish on Mondays here at QI, so often miss out on that tradition). If your book is the Torah, you dream of seven heavens. Bring your Nikes if you are of the Islamic faith – to make that pilgrimage, you must walk around the Kaaba seven times. If you’re landing in Vegas in a few hours, as is the case with Danielle, you might be inclined to take your turn at Craps and feel the crowd’s adulation. If that’s your game, might we suggest Any Seven? At QI, our favorite number is three. It’s the intersection of three and seven that thus appeals – 7 can be rolled three ways – 1&6, 2&5, and 3&4. So, tell the dealer to place your chips accordingly and roll the dice!
